BIBLE-BASED LITERACY

What is BIble-based Literacy?

Bible-based Literacy is a ministry that teaches people to read and write using Bible-centred lessons. It’s more than basic literacy—it introduces learners to the life-changing story of Jesus as they progress toward reading Scripture.

Who benefits?

Adults and children worldwide, especially in areas with limited access to education due to poverty or persecution.

How does it work?
  1. Local training: Church members or community leaders are trained to facilitate literacy classes using Bible-based curricula developed by Bible League.

  2. Learning to read: Classes use the Easy-to-Read™ (ERV) Bible or similar texts appropriate for learners’ language and culture.

  3. Holistic transformation: Students gain reading and writing skills while discovering the Gospel. This often leads to improved confidence, better economic opportunities, and spiritual growth.

  4. Cultural relevance: Programs are offered in multiple languages—Arabic, Bengali, English, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Spanish, and others.
