Bible League and 12 radio stations across Australia are partnering this year in Bringing Hope Behind Bars. This is a special mission to plant 3,500 Prison Bibles and bring hope to prisoners in Aussie jails.
Christ died for us when we were unable to help ourselves. We were living against God, but at just the right time Christ died for us. Very few people will die to save the life of someone else, even if it is for a good person. Someone might be willing to die for an especially good person. But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us. Romans 5:6-8 ERV
Bible League has specifically designed the Prison Bible with prisoners in mind. A translation team worked to make the text easy to understand. In addition, 52 lesson plans enable weekly Bible study classes to be conducted once a week by small groups within the confines of any prison setting. The lessons teach about topics such as:
- God Loves You;
- Following Jesus Inside of Prison;
- Relating to People in Authority;
- Controlling Anger;
- Preparing for Release, and so much more.
It provides the inmate with other features such as:
- A goal setting chart,
- Scripture references to help deal with negative emotions,
- An address book for family and friends.
“We opened and read from the Bible twice during our discussion. God was clearly present and leading the discussion as the results testify of the Holy Spirit bringing a revelation of Christ to the six fellas that received him and surrendered their lives to His Lordship. It was more akin to Paul having debates and people getting saved as mentioned in the book of Acts than to a church service.” – first service in an Australian prison.
‘In the next few months, 3,500 more Prison Bibles will be sent out,’ says Hilton Edwards, CEO of Bible League. ‘This continues the great numbers we have already been able to plant over the past two years,’ he adds. In partnership with 12 radio stations this year, we want to see many of the 41,000+ inmates receive their very own copy of God’s Word.
The Prison Bible talks a prisoner’s language, helping them see that there is a Loving God Who Cares.
Our goal: 3,500 Prison Bibles.
Partner with us today and Bring Hope Behind Bars. Every $15 donated will provide an inmate with their own Bible.
