At 53 years old, Frida has spent her entire life in West Papua. For many years, her faith was simply part of tradition—something passed down, but not deeply understood.
But everything began to change when she was still a young girl.
“I remember asking, ‘God, are You really real?’” Frida recalls.
Not long after, she encountered the truth of God’s Word in a way that stayed with her. That moment became the beginning of a journey—one that would eventually impact far more than just her own life.
Years later, Frida attended a Bible League Project Philip training. It was there that something stirred in her heart. She felt a quiet but clear calling: to help others understand the Bible for themselves.
She started small.
Just three children came to her first Bible study. The next week there were seven. Then ten. Before long, the children were inviting their friends, eager to learn more.
What began as a simple gathering grew into something much more.

She began travelling deeper into the jungle, walking to remote villages where people had little to no access to Scripture. In many of these places, people had never owned a Bible, and some didn’t know how to read one.
In one village, Frida sat on the floor of a small church building, surrounded by children. Together, they opened God’s Word, often for the very first time. In those moments, something powerful was happening—not just learning, but transformation and yet, the journey is far from over. Frida can see it clearly…

Today, through simple Bible study booklets and faithful local leadership in this region:
Across Indonesia, there are still many communities like these—places where people are open, where hearts are ready, and where local believers are willing to serve.
What’s needed are the tools, the training, and access to God’s Word.
Through Bible League’s work, local leaders like Frida are being equipped to reach their own communities—sharing Scripture, leading Bible studies, and walking alongside others as they grow in faith.
And in villages once marked by isolation, something new is taking root.
One life at a time, the Word of God is being opened—and lives are being changed.
