In Australia there are current tens of thousands of prisoners in custody that live in environments marked by trauma, isolation, and hopelessness, with little access to Scripture, discipleship, or meaningful spiritual support. Many have never heard the Gospel and have no opportunity to encounter God’s Word or grow in faith. Without guidance or hope, inmates remain trapped in cycles of guilt, brokenness, and despair. Bible League’s Global Prison Ministry seeks to break this cycle by providing Bibles, discipleship programs, and pastoral support—introducing prisoners to Jesus and offering a path to forgiveness, transformation, and renewed life.
Bible League’s Prison Ministry in Australia brings the life-changing Word of God to men and women behind bars through Bible studies, discipleship training, and Scripture distribution, giving inmates the opportunity to encounter Jesus, experience forgiveness, and begin a new life of faith. Prisoners who once felt forgotten are discovering hope and purpose as they engage with God’s Word and are discipled by local believers and chaplains who walk with them on their spiritual journey.

“God’s Word: Your Journey to Freedom,” also known as The Prison Bible, is an Easy-to-Read Version of Scripture created especially for men and women in correctional facilities across Australia and around the world. Each Bible includes practical tools—such as reading plans, study notes, and guided reflections—designed to speak directly to the realities of life behind bars, helping prisoners pray, reflect, and grow in faith during long hours in their cells.
Distributed through Bible League’s Prison Ministry in partnership with local chaplains and volunteers across Australia these Bibles are often the first Scripture many prisoners have ever owned. Having a personal copy allows them to read privately, encounter God’s Word for themselves, and continue their faith journey beyond release. Every Bible is placed directly into the hands of someone seeking hope and support and is provided at no cost to the prisoner, made possible through the generosity of supporters.
